Improving the Help Section Empty Improving the Help Section

As you know, a lot of people post for help in other sections instead of the Help Section. Shame on them for not reading.

Anyway, my suggestion is to add a sub-forum leading to the help section. For example:

In the Media forum, there are 2 sub-forums, Facebook Photos and Facebook Videos. I think that the staff could add a third sub-forum which links to the Photo and Video Support section. This should help move all the threads from the incorrect section to its proper place.

EDIT: oops, forgot to put this in the feedback/suggestions board...

As suggested!!....Moved from General to Feedback etc

...bump?!?!?! Here are other examples of what I mean:

Friend Support as a sub-forum in Friend Finder.

Group/Fan Page/Event Support as a sub-forum in Groups/Likes/Competitions.

Mobile and Notifications Support as a sub-forum in mobile.

Photo and Video Support as a sub-forum for Media.

Games and Apps Support as a sub-forum for Apps.

Unfortunately, it seems from recent 'experience' with this Board that people just Register, log in, then post their question or query on the first thread or Section they just happen to see; Staff have the unenviable task of using their Mod tools to sort out the resultant mess, plus applogising to those who have found their thread hijacked by someone who fails to read the Rules and post indiscriminately because they want an answer irrespective of who has posted what and where....

And a note to all of you ; The Report tab is not a 'method' whereby you 'post' your problem so please do not use it for that ...

I like this idea, thanks for the suggestion. Let's see if the other staff agree.

Half of me thinks this is a great idea, and the other half doesn't.

This is a good idea because it can help newbies realize where exactly they can ask for help, since that's our main "service".

On the other hand, I think adding so much subforums could be messy and even uneeded. Messy because we'd have to add subforums to sections that don't have any subsections (ie. Friend Finder) and that's screw up its look in the forum's index. Uneeded because all they have to do is scroll down a little bit to find the Help Section. Is that too difficult? Some of them don't even bother to read the blue sign in the General section saying we don't give support there and post there anyways. How could we then know for sure this would work?

I'll see what others think. Adding this wouldn't take too much time and it'd actually be easy, but I'm not sure if it's going to make any difference. Wink

With respect,Admin can add what they like but that only, in reality, creates yet more Sections for people to put posts that need moving ;Staff do not mind moving Topics to their correct sections( goes with the job) but if people continue to post wherever they think they will as opposed to where is most suitable then really the forum needs less sections to keep the ability for such random posting to a minimum .....

Exactly, I forgot to mention this important point. We don't have trouble moving topics, that's why we have a 2 admins, 1 global mod and 2 mods to take care of that. We can't be online 24/7 though, so that's why sometimes (rarely) it may take a while for topics to get moved.

You also have the "Report" button to your disposal, as Ruby mentioned. We get notified of that so they work pretty fast. Angel
