I've just registered on this forum, mainly to get some help with some problems I'm experiencing on facebook. Unfortunately when I try to ask in the Help section of the Forum, it says I need special permission to post in this area - is there a minimum number of posts or something?

Anyway, I'm very new to facebook, only registered a week ago, but I love it already - I've caught up with old friends, joined some groups, got some friends and some Likes for my stuff. But the Help section on Facebook itself is awful! So here I am, hoping to find some answers!

Me, I'm a children's musician from Perth, Western Australia, and I build my own instruments out of junk, recycled materials and PVC pipe - great for the kids I work with, who are aged between 18 months and 8 years.

Cheers!

You can't post in the Help Section itself. If we allowed members to do that, all kinds problems would be mixed up and keeping that section organized would be almost impossible. That's why you can only post in its subsections (Pages Support, Profile Support, etc.). Happy

I'm glad you got hooked on Facebook already... I did in my first week too! You get to talk with people you haven't seen in years, as well as with people you see every day.

Your job sounds interesting! I'd love to see photos of some of your instruments.

Oh, yeah, I forgot. Welcome to Facebook Forum! Very Happy

Hi, thanks for the quick welcome - I don't know what the problem was, but I can now post questions fine - maybe it just took a little time for the forum to recognise that I was a member.

No, I wasn't trying to post in the Help section itself, I was trying to post in the Photos subsection. Whatever, it doesn't matter because the problem is resolved.

I've asked two questions on this forum so far, one in the Photos section about not being able to share Photo Albums with friends and groups, and the other about the facebook Help discussions section, that is truly weird - most of the sections have no "+ New question" button", so there's no way to ask a question. Bizarre!

I will post up some photos of the instruments in the Facebook Photos subsection of this forum. Some are truly bizarre, and of course, since I'm working with such young children my first criteria is not "does this instrument sound beautiful". That comes third, right after

1. Is this instrument completely safe for very young children to use? Because although I have Public Liability insurance, I never ever want to have to use it - in 12 years in the business the worst injury I've had is that some kids get just a bit too enthusiastic playing drums, and get blisters from holding the drumsticks too tight; I can live with that, but if a child ever got seriously hurt my business would be stone cold dead immediately, and also I'd never be able to live with myself to think that I'd hurt a child.

And

2. Is this instrument almost unbreakable? Because if you give a 3 year old a violin and say "just play with it and see what happens", in about 30 seconds you've got kindling, not a violin! But my banjo/violins are made from PVC plumbing fittings and Tasmanian Oak, and if you drop them they bounce.

Cheers!
