Received threatening message on Facebook
Can someone confirm to me that, under the circumstances described below, it is not possible to create a fake Facebook profile of a another person:
In 2009 I filed a civil lawsuit against a woman, and one of her relatives, Mr. XY, sent me an offensive and threatening message on Facebook. Within the current civil trial, I have informed the court - in writing - about this offensive and threatening message sent to me by Mr. XY and presented printouts, as well as screenshots of my Facebook site containing the threatening message and Mr. XY’s Facebook profile photo as well as a link which leads directly to his own, original Facebook page, on which his account number and email address, quite a lot of photos and personal data about him are displayed.
My opponent’s lawyer accused me of having created a fake Facebook profile in the name of Mr. XY and stated that I wrote the threatening message, i.e., that I sent this message to myself by using a false Facebook account of Mr. XY.
I received an email from the Facebook support team some seconds after receiving the message from Mr XY on Facebook. The Facebook team informed me that Mr. XY sent me a message on Facebook.
In the email sent to me by the Facebook support team, a link is provided which leads directly to Mr. XY’s original Facebook page. This person updates his Facebook profile including his photo once or twice a week. I print out his page and create screenshots of it every time he updates his profile.
This email from the Facebook team and the message on Facebook are still available on my Facebook page, I did not delete them because I need them as a proof in the current civil trial. This is the reason why I did not report the offensive and threatening message to Facebook.
If I had created a fake profile in the name of Mr. XY, two identical Facebook pages should be available on Facebook, which is not the case. In fact, only one Facebook page of Mr. XY exists, namely the one which is linked to my email from the Facebook support team and the one available on my own Facebook page.
My questions are: Does the Facebook team proves the authenticity of a user’s Facebook account before sending an email to another Facebook user informing him that a message has been sent to him on Facebook? Is it possible to receive such an email when the Facebook message is being sent from a false Facebook account?
Thank you, Napoleona

Ruby, I do not understand, which Legal Team you mean. Do you mean my civil court case? If so, there has not been any occasion to deal with this point within the case as it is still pending.Ruby wrote:Edit;Post made into a Mod note

The points are:
Person XY has sent the threatening message to me from his facebook page, which is really existent.
I did not create a fake of his facebook page.
My questions are: how can I prove this?
Does the Facebook team proves the authenticity of a user’s Facebook account before sending an email to another Facebook user informing him that a message has been sent to him on Facebook? Is it possible to receive such an email when the Facebook message is being sent from a false Facebook account?
We can continue our dialog by e-mail, on a private basis, if you want to.
You have my e-mail address, don't you.
Thanks

Have you yet discussed this with Facebook themselves?

I suggest that this question can really only be answered by Facebook and not this forum

As this issue is under the Juristiction of Lawyers etc, this forum cannot get involved
In 2009 I filed a civil lawsuit against a woman, and one of her relatives, Mr. XY, sent me an offensive and threatening message on Facebook.
You need to discuss this with Facebook, not us..

You need to discuss this with Facebook please and your Legal Team
My opponent’s lawyer accused me of having created a fake Facebook profile in the name of Mr. XY and stated that I wrote the threatening message, i.e., that I sent this message to myself by using a false Facebook account of Mr. XY.
You need to seek advise direct from Facebook on this point
This link goes to several help points of contact
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Also, on reflection we on this forum do not know who is the innocent Party and who is not so really cannot continue this discussion
Please continue all requests on this matter with your Legal Team as we on this forum cannot be seen to be be involved in any way with your Legal issues with Facebook as the Case is still under Legal Representation
Sent to Solved as , sorry but....... the Legal Team you have hired to help you with this needs to help you and not us
