I just read the forum rules. Heartaly aggree with most of them But?
If your serious about those rules I (a new member) could learn to like this site a LOT...
I'm curious about a couple of them though.
Since you evidently do allow links, what's wrong with tinylink etc?
I can understand why it might be a good idea to restrict the following colors:
"Bold Dark Blue, Red, Bold Green, Bold Indigo and Bold Brown" to moderators. But if your serious about the regular red one, why is red listed in forum composer's color pop-up list? It would be an easy mistake...
I also noticed that you also discourage both what you call cursing, and using extra "!" or "?" to emphasize a point or question...
I presume that when you say cursing, your not talking about the act of appealing to some supernatural power for harm to come to a specific person, group, or the like, but rather the use of any of those words or phrases that one would expect a children's TV censor to
bleep out... I personally would find it more offensive for someone to rudely tell someone to go jump in a lake, then to use an occasional profane word that isn't pointed at a person. {IE a stronger version of "What the heck"} But I'll agree that since so many find such words offensive, they don't belong in a place like this... But what about replacing them with words like "heck", or {in my case a more likely expression:} "What the {expletive deleted}?"
But it's such a natural thing for me to do, that I fear I may have difficulty avoiding the use of multiple exclamation and/or interrogation marks. {Hopefully I won't slip up...}

Links are links whether large or small and content will be checked ...

It is appreciated if everyone can remember that not all people can read colored text so if text is confined to black it will help all of us to read the board..

With respect, there is absolutely no need to use any form of profanity on this board and we would appreciate it if you will abide by the Rule

I Figured the content would be checked... I only asked because:
I was hoping to learn why link shortening hosts were discouraged?https://thesocialnetworking.forumotion.com/t5415-the-social-networking-forum-official-rules wrote:

In future I will confine my posts to all black text, if that is preferred... But perhaps the above mentioned "rules" link shouldn't suggest that:Ruby wrote:It is appreciated if everyone can remember that not all people can read colored text so if text is confined to black it will help all of us to read the board..
and should instead inform people that it's not just the light colors that should be avoided? However, please do not use lights colors such as white or yellow, as they're difficult to read for some people.
I intend to abide by it. I will also avoid substituting strings of non-profanity that suggest such words had to be deleted if even that is considered offensive here. I merely wanted to know if that was so. And to confirm that this forum would, I hope, also take an equally dim view of anyone who artfully finds a way to verbally abuse another without actually using any "profane" words.Ruby wrote:With respect, there is absolutely no need to use any form of profanity on this board and we would appreciate it if you will abide by the Rule
That is a very good suggestion. And one that fits with my usual methods. It's only the multiple exclamation points and question marks that I'm concerned about. It is something I frequently find myself doing. And while I will try to abide by that convention here, I'm not certain if my brain would always notice the "wrongness?" of a triple question mark while proofreading. But I will try!Ruby wrote:You can proof- read your post before you post it to check for any irregularities and you can press the preview post tab to also check the content of your Post
Most of it anyway... Thanks!Ruby wrote:Hope this response helps with your query?
