Accout Disabled Help

I have had a facebook account for many years. I've never posted anything that would violate the terms and conditions. I am myself and well over the 18 year old requirement. Sometime yesterday my facebook account was disabled and I was listed as ineligible. I contacted them, sent in my ID and explanation. This morning I received a response that I am "ineligible to use facebook", that they can't tell me why, and the decision is final. Is there any other option other than abandoning any hope of retrieving the account I've used for years?

As a pure matter of interest, have you tried the 'forgotten password' tab to see if that may let you get back into Facebook ?

Thanks. I checked that and it just says I've been disabled. I haven't a clue what could have led to being disabled.
