help editing business page... Empty help editing business page...

Post by ba-doyn Thu Jun 02, 2011 11:32 pm

Hello all.

A friend asked if I could help out with modifying their business page. I've pretty well versed in web design/development so I guess that's why I was asked.

Here is the situation: My friend set up a business page and would like to add an image to the left column (which I did) and have it link to another site. Is that possible or does it just link to the profile picture page?

Next, they would like to add a large image to the middle section, similar to how it's done on this page: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I can't figure out how to do that. Do I need to create a "sub-page" (for lack of a better word) that will allow this, as the main page has the wall (like this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I hope I'm making myself somewhat clear.

Thanks for the help.

It's not possible, only some official pages can link to external links, most of the times Wikipedia images. But in your case, no, not possible.

That's called a custom tab, and I'm afraid to say they're not as easy to install as they look like. It requires a host, some PHP, FTP, HTML and CSS knowledge, and having some experience with Facebook Applications.

If you're interested though, we have a shop where you can get paid custom tabs. Since you said you're good at web design, you can simply provide the HTML you want to use (in this case an img src one, but it can be any, as well as scripts) and we'd set it up and provide an installation guide for 20 USD. Thanks for the reply and the offer.

What about not doing the custom tab but having the home page be the one with the large graphic in the middle, like these:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

So are these custom tabs, just called Welcome and set for the landing page?

Also, would I provide the html and images in the format that fits the middle section?

Thanks,
Michael

Yup, those are still welcome tabs, yet they only have one image as the body, added through...

Code:
<img src="link_to_image" />

If you want us to create the tab for $20, you'd just have to create the image you want to be displayed. If you would like us to create it instead, it'd cost $40. Wink

Let me check with my friend. He's the owner of the page and I'm just helping out.

Also, when I clicked Edit beneath the left side pic to add a new tab, nothing happened. Got a suggestion?

Thanks,
Michael

Confused I guess you're talking about Static FBML? Otherwise, can you please take a [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] of what Edit link you're talking about?
