Can a fan page join groups?

I have created a fan page but I'm not sure if I am doing things the right way. If I try to join groups from my fan page, it wants to add the admin for the page (my personal fb account) instead. In fact, it seems like anything I try to do for my fan page just does it to my personal page instead.

Maybe I'm thinking about it wrong. For fan pages, can you only communicate with people that have become your fans? Thanks. I know these questions are very simple but I'm not fully understanding how this works, obviously.

That is correct. I believe everything you can do via your fan pages are limited to your fan pages only. Joining groups, etc can be done only through your personal account.

As Tim explained, it's not possible.
