I no longer can send a message to the lists I have created. That was useful because the messages were also forwarded to an individuals email account.

That's not possible ever since Facebook Messages were upgraded, I'm afraid. You'll have to type each of your friend's names individually, and I the limit is somewhere about 15 to 20 friends at the time.
