relationship status changes

If the relationship status of "in a relationship with so and so" will only be visible if both parties confirm the relationship, what happens when one party changes the relationship status? does the other person's page automatically change? what happens and what will the pages look like??

The story (... is in a relationship with ...) will still be there, but none of them will have the other listed as their girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife/etc. anymore.

So once one side ends the relationship, the other person's page will say under Relationship Status: "in a relationship"
but no name or link to that person will appear?? is this correct??
