Advertising for research participants
Hello,
My name is Tracii Ryan and I am a postgraduate research student at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. I am currently undertaking a research project investigating problematic Facebook use among adult Internet users. In order to learn more about problematic Facebook use, I will soon be conducting an online survey asking participants about their Facebook usage.
I am writing to you to request permission to post a link to this survey on the Social Networking Forum, once the study has received approval from the RMIT University Human Research Ethics Committee (most likely April 2012). If you could let me know whether these sorts of posts are allowable according to the rules of this forum, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thank you for your time.
Kind regards,
Tracii Ryan

Re: Advertising for research participants
Firstly to this Forum and thank you for having the courtesy to ask before you just 'went ahead' and posted the link to the survey
Have you asked
AS I am currently this forum's 'Global Moderator ' ,I for one, do not think there will be a problem with the Survey and using this forum to do it but you will need to also get the Permission from the Admin which is currently Tim; so please do wait for his input too!!
Have you asked
how you may do this survey and where you can seek permissions to post it?RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.

Hi Ruby,
Thanks very much for your response.
In answer to your question: Yes, the survey and the methods of recruitment will be approved by the RMIT University Human Research Ethics committee before I post the link to the survey here or anywhere else.
I will wait for Tim's input before I proceed.
Thanks again,
Tracii

Hi Tracii,
Echoing Ruby's words, welcome to the forum and thanks for asking us about it.
Sure that definitely shouldn't be a problem. We're more than happy to help out with getting participants. Feel free to post the survey here on the site when it's ready.
