username change

I would like to change my facebook username. I have not changed it at any time previously. when i go to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] there are 2 suggested usernames but there is no option for me to create one of my own liking. FB help centre states that "You may choose a username that Facebook suggests, or create your own." Is this information outdated? Is there anyway that i can choose my own username?

Have you tried to log into Facebook

then go to your account/settings/username change/ click on 'more' and look at the options for a Name change ?

the Change will take at least 24 hours to be effective....

I thought that i had already tried doing that but on clicking the link you provided and logging in from there, it did indeed work.
