Clear chat history does not work

After I finished a conversation with a friend I hit the clear history on fb chat. It cleared it, but after I logged back in to fb the history I had deleted popped up again.
I tried to clear it again, relogged, same thing.
I tried with another browser, again, the same thing.
Why is there a clear history button if history keeps coming back up even if deleted?

I think that button only clears out what's written while chatting, but after logging back in, it reappears. It's saved in your messages, so...

How do you mean meassages? I just checked my messages, inbox and sent, there are no chat messages in them... Is there a way to prevent them from reappearing?

You may still be using the old messages layout... let's see. What link do you see when clicking on the messages icon, then in "See all messages"?

yep, I'm still using the old msg layout... what do I do now? thanks infront

You have to wait until Facebook rolls out the new layout for everyone. Should be in the next couple of weeks...
