Disappearing messages

Alright, so apparently after a message thread gets too long, facebook automatically deletes the beginning of the thread. Or this has been my experience. What I want to know is how do I recover the beginning of that thread. Neither me or the person I am messaging with can get to the beginning of the thread. It's a mild tragedy in my life. Someone should help me.

Yup, yuppers. I click that, and it only shows me the later half of the thread. The beginning half is lost to the facebook void??

Well.. how many messages have been sent? I believe if the thread is waaay too long, the earlier messages could get deleted. But that depends on how many messages there are.

Oh yeah, like a whole super lot. A LOT. But I didn't know that they would get deleted, I mean, old thread messages don't get deleted. If there's no way to recover them, then perhaps someone knows the message limit before their regrettable obliteration, so I can avoid these untimely repercussions in the future?

To filter your messages to view only archived conversations, scroll down and click the "Archived" link at the bottom left corner. Or click the magnifying glass next to the "Search Messages" field and choose "Archived."
