Facebook Chat: Online or Offline?

When you're on Facebook, are you usually online or offline on Facebook Chat? Most people with lots of friends on facebook (from 1,000 to 5,000) tend to be offline, since they say having too much conversations at the time can be annoying. On the other hand, people with a reduced number of friends are more likely online.

How to change my status ?

I hate chat, because i am busy doing other stuffs.

I sometimes do both, I some one messages me on chat and don't feel like chatting I just go offline so they can leave me alone. If i am in the mood then I stay online for the chat.

How to change my status ?

Bring up the chat menu by clicking on the grey 'Chat' button located on the bottom right of the Facebook home page. Then, next to the friend list(s) you would like to appear offline to, click the 'green and white' bar that appears beside each friend list's name.
