Account Suspended Empty Account Suspended

Post by Sandie Mon Mar 28, 2011 9:22 am

Someone tried to access my account and now it is suspended or frozen. I have followed the instructions but it either won't give me the two words to submit and or it will and then it takes me to a page that shows where the incident may have occured. When I try to click on the It's not me or Don't recognize button, it will not accept it or go on to the next step. I have no idea where to go for help.

How do you know someone tried to access the Account?

Did you get an email from Facebook and if so what did you do with that email ?

Account Suspended Empty Re: Account Suspended

Post by Sandie Mon Mar 28, 2011 7:05 pm

I got a message through email. I went to the link and followed the instructions. It will not show the two words that need to be entered in the challenge question box. It did one time and it showed me where they thought someone tried to access my account. It had two boxes: It's okay and Don't recognize. I clicked on Don't recognize but it did not accept it nor did it take me to the next step. Most times the words don't even come on the screen for me to enter. Please help. Thank you

Don't ask me how but somehow, miraculously, today I tried and it took me to a completely different place and now I am back on. Not sure what happened but I am thankful. Thank you for your help and concern.

This is good news but also worrying as it sounds like a 'page hijack'

This

Taken from Malwarebytes web site
‘Support for Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and 7 (32-bit and 64-bit)’.

Please download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and save it to your desktop.
MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes , they may interfere or alert you.

  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet to be able to install and update the program

(NB once the program has updated please disconnect from the Internet and run the scan while off- line )

  • Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:

    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

  • Then click Finish.
MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.

  • If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
On the Scanner tab:

  • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
  • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
Back at the main Scanner screen:

  • Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.
  • Exit MBAM when done.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

I will send this to Solved but if you do the scans and get any reports that tell you they 'found something' please do start a fresh thread in this section and we can proceed from there
