Facebook account disabled after changed password. No access to registered e-mail. Empty Facebook account disabled after changed password. No access to registered e-mail.

Post by Calebeman Wed Nov 24, 2010 10:23 pm

Recently I tried to change my facebook password to something else. Something longer and harder to guess. I changed it and it worked fine. The next day when I try to log on it tells me that the password I entered is an old password and that it has been changed. I then enter my password that I had to begin with which facebook again tells me is an old password. I then decide that I will reset my password. The only e-mail that is associated with the account I no longer have access to. (it was my Dad's that I used to sign up for the account and it was related to his old job.) I tried other ways to send it to a different e-mail none of which seem to work. I sent facebook and e-mail at their contact address, and have not received a reply. My friends told me today at school that none of them can see my profile anymore. I think that my account may have been disabled. How can I get a hold of facebook? and how can I get my account re-enabled? Thanks for your help.

Has anyone you know actually tried to find you on Facebook searching for the email address and/ or your Facebook name ?

Also ; do you use a private computer to access Facebook or a shared one?

The fact that you say you are using a shared computer to access Facebook means you do not know what is on that computer or its safety on line

es I tried it on my moms account today my name and picture show up when searching for it but my profile appears to have been deleted. Shared. How can I get facebook to re-enable my account and reset my password?

That makes me wonder if your account has been somehow taken over by someone else;

Lets try this ; but if you can do so on a private- and- only -used- by- you computer please

To be on the safe side I am going to ask you to run some scans on that computer

It cannot harm for all users to also use them on their Profiles too;In the Computing world Norton has a bad reputation and is not considered a very good protection tool and is on my list of 'not- to -have- or- use programs '
Run at your own risk..as always

Please download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and save it to your Desktop.
MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes , they may interfere or alert you.

  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:

    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

  • Then click Finish.
MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.

  • If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
On the Scanner tab:

  • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
  • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
Back at the main Scanner screen:

  • Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.
  • Exit MBAM when done.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

.....................................................................................

Next run Superantisypware (SAS):

Download and scan with [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Free for Home Users
  • Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
  • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
  • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates".

  • In the Main Menu, click the Preferences... button.
  • Click the Scanning Control tab.
  • Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
    • Close browsers before scanning.
    • Scan for tracking cookies.
    • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
  • Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
  • Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
  • On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
  • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
  • Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
  • After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
  • Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
  • A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
  • If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
  • To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
    • Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
    • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
    • If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
    • Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
  • Click Close to exit the program.
.

Please note; these scans may take up to if not more than 8 hours to run so be prepared.......

Whilst it is appreciated you seek to get your Facebook account restored( if possible)..it is if even more important when dealing with on- line issues, to ensure the computer being used is clear and clean from infections

We do not even know if the antivirus program on there is up to date as you have not told us and from my experience Norton is a not good Protection program

It would be appreciated if you would run the scans to help us at least eliminate an infection as the cause of your computer problems ; also getting back into Facebook ( if one can) is often not a quick fix but working out what has gone wrong, then trying if possible to fix it

Do please try those scans so we can see what may be going on, especially if that is a shared computer and we really have no idea as to the safety of it on line ; thanks

I asked my Dad if I could run the scans and he said no and that our computer is fine. I dont think that there are any viruses on the computer he says that Norton Antivirus is fine and its what we've used for the last five years and theres no problem. I think that somebodyt may have guessed my password and then facebook recognized that somebody was on it and disabled it. They still won't reply to any of my e-mails.

If we cannot have the scans run and the Norton is 'trusted' we have no way of knowing if the computer may be infected as we will not be able to see any scan reports

Do any of the others yet have any problems with their Facebook accounts ?

I sent facebook and e-mail at their contact address, and have not received a reply.

From which email address did you send this; does Facebook know this email address?

Have you yet checked the Spam/junk section of that email address ti see if any email from Facebook is in there?

yes; but that email address is not associated with that Facebook account is it?

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Try this

If you registered a username, try logging in using your username and password. A username is your personalized Facebook URL (web address) and appears in the location bar of your browser after "https://www.facebook.com/" when you view your profile. After logging in, visit the Settings tab on the Account page to locate the email address you use to log in.
Ask one of your Facebook friends to view your profile and send you the email address listed on your account.
To do this, ask your friend to click on the "Info" tab on your Profile page and scroll down to "Contact Information."
Once you receive this information, try logging in with that email address.

Facebook seems to like to take a while to respond, so it could be on the order of a few weeks. How long ago did you email them?
